Web 2.0

Since i started the study of Web 2.0, i won't necessarily say my use of the web have changed. I am still using the same social media programs i did before. The only thing that has changed i is that i now know the technical details that go with it. For example i now know the differences between web browser, web server, web site etc. The new trend that i have notices on the web now is cloud computing, storing and deploying applications and data on a network of internet servers especially with Google Docs.

TWITTER

I read the terms of service on my twitter account. I’ve had twitter for about a year now but just like most other sites I go to, I just click “agree” without even reading the policy. On twitter it states “ You understand that through your use of the Services you consent to the collection and use (as set forth in the Privacy Policy) of this information, including the transfer of this information to the United States and/or other countries for storage, processing and use by Twitter. “ Basically they claim that they won’t be sharing any private user information except for in these few circumstances.
Your Consent: We may share or disclose your information with your consent, such as when you use a third party web client or application to access your Twitter account.
Service Providers: We engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to us. We may share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these functions and provide such services, and only pursuant to obligations mirroring the protections of this privacy policy.
Law and Harm: We may preserve or disclose your information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues; or to protect Twitter's rights or property.
Business Transfers: In the event that Twitter is involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. The promises in this privacy policy will apply to your information as transferred to the new entity.
Non-Private or Non-Personal Information: We may share or disclose your non-private, aggregated or otherwise non-personal information, such as your public Tweets or the number of users who clicked on a particular link (even if only one did).

I did not see anything about security bleach but I did see where it has happened in the past. I will be careful with how much information I disclose since it’s being stored somewhere. Nice assignment!

Uploading Images

Whether uploading images directly on blogger or embedding image stored on Flickr, you start on the same step. You start on writing a new post. For downloading images directly, you click on insert image icon. When you click this icon, you'll get a window that allows you to select an image or multiple images from your computer. Click the Browse button to locate the ones you want.

When embedding an image stored on Flickr, you just go to Flickr copy the HTML code and paste it on the blog. I would have to say that embedding images was easier to do if you follow the steps. The advantage of uploading directly is that you can upload multiple images which i am not sure whether that is possible when embedding.

Practical ways of using RSS

RSS feeds are a great way a company can let it's employees know of events and activities that may be happening soon. Also lets say a company has an online store, it can add details about newly added items to an RSS feed to let it's customers know what's new.

Feed Reader

A feed reader is an application that receives feeds and displays the content of them. This application is automatically updated whenever new content is added. One of the benefits is that it makes it very convenient to follow a blog without having to to go back to it and see if new entries have been posted. Another one is that it gives one a chance to have information aggregated into one place where it can be easily accessed when the reader needs it.
Drawbacks to using feed readers is that not all websites support RSS feeds and therefore it's not possible to subscribe to all website that one would want. Also Some of the information that comes on the feed reader is not relevant to the reader's interests although the reader might have subscribed to the feed.
